Hi, my name is Bhupesh Meher and I am native of India. Currently, I am pursuing my PhD at the Rock Deformation Lab, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel). In my current research, I use experimental approach to investigate the mechanical properties of rocks and minerals associated with subduction zones to better understand the kinematics and dynamics of the subduction zone.
This website is an outcome of the sheer love, appreciation and gratitude that I have for Geology, and anything and everything attached to it. The website will cater to my utmost curiosity of getting connected to the equally rivetted geo-fraternity, and my proclivity for contributing to the society at large through whatsoever means possible. I always encourage the geo-fraternity people to visit my website and discuss all the possible research problems.
Thanks for spending some times to know about my personal life and research!

Currently, in my Ph.D. research, I am working on the deformation mechanisms of Ca-rich amphiboles in naturally and experimentally deformed samples using high-pressure (~ 3 GPa) and high-temperature (1300°C) experiments with the new-generation Griggs solid-medium apparatus.
In addition to this, I use electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and transmission Kikuchi diffraction (TKD) to understand from micro- to nanoscale microstructure.
During my master, I have carried microstructural analysis of quartzo-feldspathic mylonite samples from the Lakhna shear zone, revealing the evolution of the Eastern Ghats Mobile Belt.
Microstructural examination, analysis of stress, deformation mechanism, and shear vorticity revealed that the juxtaposition of the Eastern Ghats Mobile Belt occurred by dislocation mediated simple shear thrusting. This work was published in the Journal of Earth System Science (Meher et al., 2020).
